ACTIVITY LIST

This activity list is not final. Activities may be added throughout the year or taken out due to restrictions or lack of coordinator.  We welcome the helping hands of every member. If there is something for which you have a passion and a vision, please feel free to talk to any board member about it and we will be happy to help you get started. Every person here is part of the body of CHEF that keeps it moving smoothly.  We are a member-led group and all of us are here to support one another.

FALL ACTIVITIES

Skate Night at Airline Skate Center

Fall and Spring.  This is a private skate night hosted by CHEF but is open to all local homeschoolers.  Only Christian music will be played.  It costs $5 per skater, which includes skate rental. They will also have meal deals available for purchase.

Contact the skate center on AIrline Hwy and reserve a date. Post the event in the Private CHEF of GNO group and send out an email with the date, time and details. Elizabeth is the contact. The number is 733-2248.

We typically need to have at least 50 skaters or we will need to pay the difference.

We usually bring our own music, however they had a playlist of Christian music last time.

Operation Christmas Child

November   Start saving your shoeboxes now and teach your children about serving others!  Franklin Graham’s ministry, Samaritan’s Purse, hosts this annual program where we wrap shoe boxes in Christmas paper and fill them with personal and gift items for children ages 2 – 11.  Details will go out in October, and we will collect the boxes the first 2 Thursdays in November.  This is a family project, so everyone can participate.

Thanksgiving Banquet

November  This is a great time to get together with other homeschooling families to break bread, fellowship, and give thanks to God. There is a small charge per family (usually $10) and each family will also need to bring an XL side item and dessert. Meats will be provided by board members, paper products and drinks will be provided by CHEF.

Names and ages of children interested in participating no later than November 17. Each child will need to bring a new gift wrapped holiday book to PE on the last P.E. day this semester and we will exchange them after each class. Kids ages 4 and up compete against others in their age group and everyone earns ribbons. Younger siblings are welcome to come enjoy inflatables while the older kids compete.

The National Day of Prayer

First Thursday in May   This is a day designated by U.S. Congress as a day when all Americans are asked to come together and pray for our nation. It is special to know that Christians all over our nation are gathering together on the same day before our Lord to pray for our wonderful country. This is a family event – Parents and children pray, sing, and recite scripture, read quotations, etc. We meet at the park, eat lunch, and then have corporate prayer.  We encourage all families to participate.
