ACTIVITY LIST
This activity list is not final. Activities may be added or removed throughout the year depending on volunteer availability. We welcome and encourage the helping hands of every member. If there is something for which you have a passion and a vision, please feel free to talk to any board member about it and we will be happy to help you get started.
HOLIDAY PARTIES
Thanksgiving Banquet
Each November, member families get together to eat a traditional meal, fellowship, and give thanks to God. Each family contributes $10 for paper products and drinks. They also bring an XL side item and dessert to share. Meats are provided by board members.
Gingerbread House Decorating Party
Come and decorate your gingerbread house with CHEF! You provide the pre-assembled gingerbread house, architectural icing, and a bag or two of candy to share. This event is one of the most popular of the Christmas season!
Christmas Caroling
This is such a sweet event. Come join us as we sing Christmas carols at a local nursing home. You’ll see eyes widen and really big smiles by the residents that are blessed by our children. Due to restrictions, this event may be changed to a different location.
Valentine’s Day Party
Each participating student brings a Valentine box or bag to receive cards and treats. They also bring a number of cards and treats for students in their age range. Each family that registers will receive information regarding the number of Valentines to prepare in advance. Each child will receive many reminders of God's love for them!
Resurrection Egg Hunt
In the week leading up to Resurrection Sunday, join us for an egg hunt and a retelling Easter story. Stay for a picnic lunch together.
National Day of Prayer
On the first Thursday in May, the U.S. Congress designates this time as one when all Americans can come together and pray for our nation. This is a family-friendly event. Parents and children are encouraged to sign up to pray, sing, recite scripture, read quotations, etc.
SPORTS & ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
Yearbook Club
Students work together to create an annual yearbook to commemorate fun events and activities as well as highlight graduates and CHEF member families. Photos are submitted by parents and are needed year round, as Yearbook Club meets monthly during the school year.
Skate Night at Airline Skate Center
Once or twice a year, CHEF hosts a private skate night that is open to all local homeschoolers in addition to friends and family. This is a fundraising opportunity if the minimum attendance requirement is met.
Academic Night
Students share written reports, essays, biographies and more about any history or science topic they’re interested in. This is a time to build confidence and teach character by committing to a project and getting it done! A reception follows and students are encouraged to share foods related to their projects.
Fine Arts and Talent Night
This is a night for your child to show their artistic, creative, or adventurous side. Presentations may include playing an instrument, sharing a piece of original artwork (any medium), singing a worship song, demonstrating martial arts, baking a cake, and more! A reception follows.
Field Day
Field Day has recently reemerged to coincide with the end of PE. Students have lots of fun and feel the heat of competition in a safe, Christian environment. Events may include: Relay Dash, Tug of War, Sack Race, Egg & Spoon, Long Jump, Obstacle Course, 3 Legged Race, Water Balloon Toss, and more! Kids ages 3 and up compete against others in their age group.

Dads and daughters! Mothers and sons! Head out for an afternoon or evening of fun, enjoying quality time with one another and getting to know other CHEF families. Dinner, putt putt golf, bowling, fishing, ice cream…anything goes!

Mom’s Night Out
Moms need a break from life’s day to day routine, to unwind and connect with other moms, and to strengthen relationships with one another. Come connect, laugh and relate with other moms walking out a similar homeschool journey. Dinner, dessert, paint parties, spa parties...so many choices!
Park Playdates
Fellowship is in our name. Getting together at local playgrounds fulfills this purpose. CHEF students can connect with others and build friendships on a regular basis, Meetups are scheduled regularly during the year and provide free play time for the kids and chat time for the mamas.
Family Camp Out
CHEF of GNO's annual family camping trip each spring is a great time to bond with your family and with fellow homeschoolers. At beautiful Flint Creek Waterpark, there are planned activities like a hot dog roast and family worship as well as plenty of free time for fishing, fellowshipping, bike riding, or whatever your family would like to do. It is the most fun and relaxation all rolled into one great weekend!
